How LA GATOR works

The LA GATOR Scholarship Program is Louisiana's education scholarship account program, giving families a state-funded account to spend on approved education expenses including tuition at participating schools. Disbursement and provider workflows run on the Odyssey platform.

Eligibility for 2026-27 covers returning participants, entering kindergartners, students enrolled in public school during 2025-26, and households at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level. The statute defines later phases that widen the income band (up to 400 percent FPL), but phase changes depend on legislative funding, not on dates; the 2026 session did not fund the expansion. Operators registering now are positioned for whichever year that funding lands.

Becoming a GATOR provider

Provider onboarding runs through Odyssey's GATOR provider intake: Louisiana business registration or a foreign-entity filing for out-of-state operators, evidence of liability insurance covering students in the program, background check coverage, and a published tuition and fee schedule.

CohortLedger's Louisiana vendor wizard carries this checklist step by step, with document tracking per requirement. Our seeded demo shows the wizard mid-flight (a Texas school considering Louisiana families), which is exactly the position many operators near the border are in.

Reporting cadence and operator obligations

Louisiana expects quarterly attendance and progress documentation for scholarship students, submitted through the program's channels. Where a detail is still being formalized by the program, confirm with the Louisiana Department of Education rather than relying on secondhand summaries; CohortLedger marks unconfirmed items as such instead of guessing.

The compliance calendar ships with the GATOR quarterly task and the annual provider renewal pre-loaded, recurring automatically with reminders before each due date.
