How Arkansas EFAs work

The Education Freedom Account program, created under the Arkansas LEARNS Act, funds private school tuition and other approved education expenses through per-student accounts. Eligibility phased up to universal as of the 2025-26 school year: any Arkansas K-12 student can apply.

Disbursements run through ClassWallet. Families direct payments from their EFA account to approved schools and service providers; the operator receives the deposit in their business bank account. The award formula is up to 90 percent of the prior year's per-pupil foundation funding: $6,864 for most students in 2025-26 ($7,627 for former Succeed Scholarship recipients), with the 2026-27 figures announced higher. Confirm the current year's amount with the Arkansas Department of Education before quoting it to families.

Becoming an EFA provider

Providers register with the Arkansas Department of Education's EFA process and complete payment setup in ClassWallet: business registration, a W-9 matching the legal name, your tuition and fee schedule, and background check coverage where required. Confirm category-specific requirements with ADE.

CohortLedger's Arkansas vendor wizard carries these steps with per-step document tracking and renewal reminders.

Reporting cadence and operator obligations

Operators keep enrollment, attendance, and tuition records per EFA student and meet the program's periodic reporting expectations. The compliance calendar ships with a quarterly attendance and progress task plus the annual provider renewal, recurring automatically with reminders before each due date.
